New Resource Centre
With the closure of the local post office, sales through the charity shop diminished and in 2009 a decision was taken to close the shop which has existed in one form or another since 1922. This space, fronting Beverley Road, has now been converted to be the ‘accessible front door’ for HERIB.
The old resource centre within the main building has been moved and expanded into the shop area incorporating displays of the wide range of aids and equipment which is available to assist people with sight loss.
CCTVs are on show in addition to a selection of magnifiers and communication aids and the simple things to help around the house.
We also have three computer stations loaded with assistive technology software, enabling people with sight loss to write their own CVs, letters and surf the web – also a ‘try before you buy’ facility or continue with your college work whilst college is closed.
The Resource Centre is open from 0930 to 1630 Monday to Friday to ‘pop in’ although if you would like to make an appointment to view – do call us on 01482 342297.
Some items are held in stock, however all items are available via the local social enterprise - AddVis Services Limited.
