Each traveller and their guide is picked up from their home and taken in one of HERIB’s minibuses to Scarborough. Daily trips are available to a variety places such as Whitby and Thornton-le-Dale. Transport to Scarborough and daily trips are included in the price of the holiday.
An annual exhibition of equipment and information is held at HERIB in Hull during March, where suppliers of equipment and other voluntary and charitable agencies show how they can help and support people with sight loss.
Other exhibitions are arranged in other areas to enable those who live further away to keep up to date with latest ideas and information.

Each event has a theme and subject covered to date have included:
- Older People
The day is interactive with workshops and discussions and all have included presentations by Consultants from Hull Royal Infirmary, Hull College or Local Innovative Companies.
A buffet lunch is a good chance to network and find our more about colleagues and the work they do. Feedback from the event confirms those attending have enjoyed the day and learned from it.
At HERIB we do our very best to support visually impaired children and their families. We also offer support and advice and signpost them to other organisations that can help.
We arrange a children’s summer outing most years and have visited places like The Deep, Honeysuckle Farm and have enjoyed lovely days at the beach, with parachute games and paddling in the sea.
Every year around the Christmas period we take a group of visually impaired children and their families on a free trip to the pantomime at Hull New Theatre. A magical fairytale is brought to life from page to stage, complete with stunning sets, beautiful costumes and lots of comedy. Part of the experience includes meeting the cast and exploring all the fantastic costumes.
